   IPC-7711/IPC-7721 Certified IPC Specialist Certification

The IPC-7711/IPC-7721 "Rework of Electronic Assemblies/Repair and Modification of Printed Boards and Electronic Assemblies" modular programme defines tools, materials, methods and process goals and guidelines associated with rework and repair of surface mount and through-hole assemblies. The standards emphasise performance specification for the chosen technology plus information on the rework, repair and modification of PCBs and assemblies. When used together, these documents should lead both manufacturer and customer to consistent terms of acceptability.

Course Objective:
This course enables the candidate to know the scope, purpose, background and controls of both the IPC-7711 & IPC-7721. The course also provides a uniform method for training and certifying both the knowledge and advanced practical skills of rework & repair personnel to the requirements of the standard.

Course Content:
Certified IPC Specialist Certification is a modular programme. Candidates must take the first module "Common Procedures" of IPC-7711/IPC-7721 Specification. After this, a selection of the modules applicable for the candidate can be made. Course contents include:

Product classifications, skill levels, tools and materials
Basic surface mount and through hole component removal
Land preparation and component installation
Primary heating methods: conductive, convective, etc.
Handling electronic assemblies
Wire splicing procedures
Through hole component removal and installation
Chip and MELF rework procedures
SOIC/SOT, J-lead and QFP rework procedures
Printed wiring board circuit and laminate repair
Conformal coating removal

Course Modules:
Common procedures
Wire splicing procedures
Through hole procedures
Chip & MELF procedures
SOT, SOIC, D-PAK & QFP procedures
J-Lead procedures
PCB Circuit repair procedures
Laminate repair procedures
Conformal coating removal & replacement procedures

Evaluation:
The practical and theoretical examination of the candidate is carried out in accordance with the modules selected. Upon satisfactory course completion participants will be awarded the Certified IPC Specialist Certification, which is valid for 2 years. This training and certification has immediate recognition and value throughout the electronics industry.

Suitable For:
Production Operators, Technicians, Rework & Repair Operators, Quality Control personnel who desire to expand their comprehension of the procedures, methods, and acceptability standards in advanced Rework, Repair and Modification of PCBs and Assemblies to the IPC-7711/IPC-7721 Specification and receive verification of their rework and repair skills.
